What Is Improv
Improv is unscripted, in-the-moment performance and play. There's no script, no rehearsed lines, no right answer to prepare in advance. You show up, respond to whatever's in front of you, and build something together with the group as you go.
That might sound intimidating on paper. In the room, it's the opposite - improv removes the pressure to have the perfect thing to say. Nobody's judging you for the "wrong" answer, because there isn't one. What's left is presence, play, and the surprising confidence that comes from realizing you can handle not knowing what happens next.
It's also just genuinely fun - you meet new people, make real friends, and for an hour or two, get to feel like a kid again.
Who This Is For
Anyone 18 and older. No performance background, acting experience, or "being funny" required. Some come for confidence, some for connection, some out of curiosity, some because a friend dragged them along - all of it works.
The Rules of Improv
Improv has a small set of principles that hold the whole practice together. They apply just as much to a stage as they do to a hard conversation at work or an awkward silence at a party.
- Yes, and. Accept what your scene partner gives you, then build on it. Blocking or shutting an idea down kills the scene, and the conversation.
- Make your partner look good. The best improvisers aren't focused on their own cleverness, they're focused on setting up the person next to them to shine.
- There are no mistakes, only offers. Whatever happens, happens for a reason. The “wrong” move becomes the next interesting thing, if you let it.
- Listen more than you plan. The moment you start rehearsing your next line instead of hearing what's actually being said, the scene falls apart. Presence beats preparation.
- Commit fully. Half-hearted choices are harder to work with than bold ones. Commit to the bit, even when it's uncomfortable.
- Stay in the moment. Don't try to control where the scene goes. Respond to what's actually happening, not what you hoped would happen.

Both. Sessions run offline in Navi Mumbai and online, so you can pick whichever format suits you.
Improv is inherently participatory, but nothing here is about performing to impress anyone. Everyone in the room is learning together, and the whole point is that “getting it wrong” is part of the exercise, not a failure.
Improv builds real, transferable skills: active listening, thinking on your feet, staying present under pressure, and getting more comfortable with uncertainty and spontaneity, all of which show up well beyond the workshop itself. Just as importantly, you'll meet new people, make genuine friends, and get a couple of hours each week to feel playful and unfiltered, something most adults don't get nearly enough of.
Sessions are hosted by Jahnavi Bhardwaj, who has been practicing and facilitating improv since 2022 and runs weekend improv workshops in Mumbai as an ongoing practice, not a one-off event.
It's part of the same experiential learning philosophy - presence, trust, and comfort with uncertainty are skills that show up in leadership too - but Improv Works is open to anyone, not just first-time leaders or corporate teams.
