Our Story

It started with two people noticing the same broken pattern.

Jahnavi Bhardwaj and Thejashree Shankar, co-founders

The Nextwave Leaders didn't start with a business plan. It started with two people noticing the same broken pattern from two completely different vantage points. Jahnavi spent years inside corporate delivery teams watching high performers get promoted into management — and then quietly struggle, alone, with zero training on how to actually lead people. Thejashree spent years on the other side of the table, coaching leaders through the self-doubt, communication breakdowns and identity shifts that no org chart prepares you for. When they compared notes, the pattern was obvious: companies were promoting for skill and hoping for leadership. Nobody was training the gap in between. So they built something to close it — practical enough to survive a Monday morning, human enough to actually change behaviour.

Why Nextwave Exists

Most managers aren't struggling because they don't care. They're struggling because nobody ever taught them how. We exist to fix that — not with more theory, but with practice, reflection and systems people can actually use the next day at work.

Jahnavi Bhardwaj

Co-Founder · Experiential Learning Facilitator · Author

Jahnavi Bhardwaj is an experiential learning facilitator, published author and Co-Founder of The Nextwave Leaders. She helps technically strong professionals move from individual contribution into people leadership — through practical work on communication, feedback, delegation, psychological safety and AI-era adaptability. Her approach draws on three different worlds: structured corporate and Agile delivery experience, improv theatre practice she began in 2022, and years of teaching and volunteering with children through NGOs including The Harmony House and Child Rights and You (CRY) — work that shaped how she designs for different kinds of learners. She also hosts weekend improv workshops in Mumbai, and is the author of Be the Mentor, Not Monitor.

Thejashree Shankar

Co-Founder · Psychologist · Executive Coach

Thejashree Shankar is a psychologist, executive coach and Co-Founder of The Nextwave Leaders. Her work focuses on the psychology behind leadership behaviour — the beliefs, fears and thought patterns that shape how people communicate, make decisions and lead others. Rather than teaching leadership as a set of techniques, Thejashree helps people understand themselves deeply enough that the change actually holds. She brings the coaching and behavioural-science depth that sits underneath every Nextwave program — the part that makes a two-day workshop into something that survives past the following week.

Together

Jahnavi brings the experience design. Thejashree brings the psychology underneath it. Together, that's the difference between a workshop people enjoy and a workshop that actually changes how someone shows up at work on Monday.

Be the Mentor, Not Monitor

Jahnavi's book on how modern leaders build trust, connection and human adaptability in the AI era. Practical, not preachy — the same philosophy behind everything we teach.
